Dial-up can be devided into two categories: Analog and ISDN. Dial-up Internet Access is usefull when you do not access the internet alot, do not spend a lot of time surfing the internet and do not upload or download large quantities of data. The negative side about dial-up internet access is that besides paying monthly for your dial-up account, you also pay Telkom for the time you spend online.

Analog Dial-up

Requirements:
Fixed analog telephone line supplied by Telkom.
Aanalog modem.

Internet Generation approved modems can be aquired from one of our authorised installers.

Speed: 56kbps (Is severely affected by line noise and bad telephone connections)

ISDN Dial-up

Requirements:
Fixed digital telephone line supplied by Telkom.
Ddigital ISDN modem.

Internet Generations approved ISDN modems can be aquired from one of our authorised installers.

Speed: 64kbps or 128kbps depending on the line service available from Telkom. Faster speed than normal analog dial-up. Less susceptible to line noise, however it is limited to line service being available from Telkom. Usually not available in remote rural areas.
